Understanding offline sync

Field workers can capture data with no signal at all. Here's what happens:

  1. The mobile app stores each submission locally in an outbox as it's captured.
  2. When the device regains connectivity, the app automatically syncs the outbox — submissions, photos, and files — to your account.
  3. Each submission is assigned a unique ID on-device, so a retried sync never creates a duplicate.

You don't need to do anything to trigger a sync — it happens automatically whenever the app has a connection. You can see a device's last sync time under Devices in your dashboard.
